Eric Dane’s daughters are ‘suffering’ amid actor’s ALS battle

Rebecca Gayheart is sharing the heartbreaking way her husband Eric Dane’s battle with ALS is affecting their daughters.

“I mean, it’s heartbreaking,” the “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum told People in comments published Saturday. “My girls are really suffering, and we’re just trying to get through it. It’s a tough time.”

Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13, are “taking it day by day” as Dane, 52, faces the progressive neurodegenerative disease.

“We have some professional therapists who are helping us, and we’re just trying to have some hope and do it with dignity, grace and love,” Gayheart, 54, said.

The “Countdown” actor revealed his diagnosis with ALS in April. “I have been diagnosed with ALS,” he told People at the time. “I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter.” 

The “Euphoria” actor added, “I kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time.”

Gayheart — who filed for divorce from Dane in 2018, only to call off the split in March — told the outlet that amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a “horrible” condition.

“I don’t think I’m at a place yet where I can pull out a positive nugget,” she told People in comments from an event on Friday. “I mean, we’re definitely dealing with something that has brought us all together, and Eric will always be my family, whether we’re married or not, or living in the same house or not.”

The model confessed that while the family is “closer” due to the devastating diagnosis, they “don’t like the reason why.”

“It’s a horrible disease, and I wish that there was a cure,” she divulged. “I hope they find one soon, because it is just so sad.”

A rep for Dane did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

The “Urban Legend” actress clarified her relationship with Dane — who has been spotted stepping out with Janelle Shirtcliff in the months following the announcement — in April. “We are best of friends. We are really close. We are great co-parents,” she told E! News at the time.

In June, the father of two sat down with Diane Sawyer on an episode of “Good Morning America” to discuss how the aggressive condition — which has no known cure — was affecting him.

“I have one functioning arm. My dominant side, my left side, is functioning,” he told the journalist. “My right side has completely stopped working.” Dane called his symptoms “sobering.”

He said the disease now defines his days. “I will never forget those three letters,” he said. “It’s on me the second I wake up.”

Of his relationship with Gayheart, whom he married in 2004, the “Grey’s Anatomy” alum echoed his wife’s statements.

“I call Rebecca. I talk to her every day,” he said. “We have managed to become better friends and better parents and she is probably my biggest champion and most stalwart supporter and I lean on her.”

But the actor confessed he is angered for one reason. “I’m angry because…there’s a very good chance I’m going to be taken from my girls when they’re very young,” he said.
