ENCINITAS, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — The life and legacy of a local body surfer, Mark Drewelow, will be celebrated with the premiere of a new short film, “The Man in the Yellow Cap.”
The film is making its debut at the La Paloma Theatre in Encinitas on Saturday, Oct. 11. The filmmaker, Ian Moore, knew the moment he met Drewelow in the lineup at Blacks Beach that he was special.
Moore continued to film Drewelow as part of a larger piece he was putting together for U.S. Bodysurfing to promote the sport.
“Just a dolphin, epic waterman,” Moore said while describing Drewelow. “Just amazing person.”
After Drewelow’s passing, several people encouraged Moore to put together a piece for his family and friends. The 24-minute film is the center-piece of the special event.
