Former “American Idol” star Benjamin Glaze was recently sentenced after his 2024 arrest on charges related to possessing child pornography.
TMZ reported that the Tulsa Police Department shared an update on Glaze’s case on Sept. 15 announcing that he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 25 years. Glaze is slated to spend 15 of those years in custody and 10 more years as a suspended sentence.
The 28-year-old will also have to register as a sex offender.
TMZ reported that Glaze was arrested in 2024 after Tulsa’s Sexual Predator/Digital Evidence Recovery United received a tip that he had child sexual abuse material in his possession.
FOX23 reported that authorities were made aware of Glaze when they were contacted by a mental health counselor who said he confessed to them that he had an addiction to child pornography. Police said when they reviewed Glaze’s phone, they found 700 images and video of child pornography.
Glaze became popular for his appearance on Season 16 of “American Idol” in 2018. During his time on the show, he told judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan that he had never kissed a girl.
Perry then kissed Glaze on the cheek which drew national attention, and as Taste of Country noted, while he did not make it to Hollywood that kept him in the headlines for weeks.
