The Renaissance Theatre is set to host a unique cinematic experience with a screening of the 1922 horror classic “Nosferatu” on Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m.
The screening will feature live accompaniment by organist Jay Spencer on the theatre’s Mighty Wurlitzer Organ, according to a community announcement.
Widely regarded as the film that launched the horror genre, F.W. Murnau’s “Nosferatu” (1922) will come to life Oct. 24 in a rare hybrid performance featuring live accompaniment on the Renaissance’s legendary Mighty Wurlitzer Organ, performed by organist Jay Spencer.
The organ, a historic piece originally installed in the Warner Brothers Vitaphone Studios in 1929, has been a part of the Renaissance Theatre since 1985.
“’Nosferatu’ is not just a film — it’s an experience,” Renaissance President and CEO Chelsie Thompson said in the announcement. “The combination of this iconic movie and the Wurlitzer creates a powerful, atmospheric event that you truly can’t replicate at home.”
The event is designed to appeal to classic film enthusiasts, horror fans and anyone seeking a unique live performance.
Tickets are priced at $10 and can be purchased online at rentickets.org, by calling the box office at 419-522-2726 or in person at the Renaissance Theatre, 138 Park Avenue West, Mansfield.
