Dolly Parton needs a break.
The legendary country music icon did a very Dolly thing on Sunday when she took it upon herself to personally announce to fans, via Instagram, that her upcoming six-night residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, which was scheduled for December, is going to have to wait due to the 79-year-old “dealing with some health challenges.”
“I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts,” the 9 to 5 star wrote. “As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures. As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!”
Parton went on to write that, in putting her health first, she would not be able to dedicate the time and effort she planned to both create and rehearse the show. And the way Dolly sees it, her fans deserve the very best.
“You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you,” Parton wrote. “While I’ll still be able to work on all of my projects from here in Nashville, I just need a little time to get ‘show ready,’ as they say.”
For anyone worried this medical bump in the road might have Parton thinking it’s time to retire, you clearly don’t know Dolly. “Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet,” she said. “But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.”
Parton announced her series of Vegas concerts, known as “Dolly: Live in Las Vegas,” in June, with shows scheduled to take place between December 4 and December 13. The concerts were set to mark Parton’s first in nearly a decade, since she wrapped her “Pure & Simple” tour in 2016.
The new dates for Dolly’s 2026 shows, which will take place between September 17 and September 26, 2026, have already been booked. Fans who were lucky enough to nab tickets for her December shows will automatically see the dates changed, though refunds will also be available. Ticketsellers will be reaching out to customers to let them know what they need to do.
