Cardi B returned to the Billboard 200 in dramatic fashion.
Seven years after the release of Cardi’s debut album Invasion of Privacy, the rapper’s long-awaited sophomore album Am I the Drama? landed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 205,000 in album-equivalent units.
Singles that were included on the LP but released in previous years, like “WAP” and “Up,” were ineligible to be counted towards first-week sales, although their past success helped the album receive an RIAA platinum certification upon release.
Cardi’s first-week sales can, of course, be attributed to heavy anticipation for her long-awaited new LP. In addition, it was initially discounted on iTunes for $4.99, and the artist made high-profile in-store appearances in multiple cities. The trek ended with the Grammy winner visiting record store Fingerprints in Long Beach, California, on Thursday (Sept. 25).
Am I the Drama? features Summer Walker (“Dead,” “Shower Tears”), Selena Gomez (“Pick It Up”), Kehlani (“Safe”), Lizzo (“What’s Goin’ On”), Cash Cobain (“Better Than You”), and more.
Next February, Cardi will embark on her first headlining tour, the Little Miss Drama Tour, presumably after the birth of her fourth child, the artist’s first with NFL player Stefon Diggs.
ComplexCon returns to Las Vegas on October 25–26, 2025, with over 300 brands and live performances by Young Thug, YEAT & Friends, Peso Pluma, Central Cee, Ken Carson, and more. Get your tickets now.
