Trump cancels Great American State Fair concerts after artists drop out. Here’s what they said about it and what will happen instead.

The comedy series Mid-Century Modern, starring Nathan Lane, Matt Bomer, Nathan Lee Graham, and Linda Lavin — with Max Mutchnick and David Kohan as creators, James Burrows as director, and Ryan Murphy as executive producer — has been canceled after just one season on Hulu.

“Ten great episodes… Not enough,” Mutchnick wrote on Instagram to announce the show’s cancelation. “But we loved making every single one of them. We’re gonna miss our very special show. Thanks to everyone who watched.”

The comments section has been flooded with emotional responses to the show’s cancelation. “We became a family to create a TV show about chosen family. And nobody can take that away from us. It was magical. And filled Linda Lavin with so much joy at the end of her life. This was a blessing on a blessing! Grateful to have been a part of it!” Dan Bucatinsky commented. “I loved working with you and this beautiful cast. Be proud in knowing you created something very special,” Cheri Oteri wrote. “Some amazing TV history nonetheless,” Carson Kressley replied.

Bomer and Graham, stars of the show, also left comments with heart emojis.

Mid-Century Modern centered on a trio of friends living out their “golden years” together: Bunny Schneiderman (Nathan Lane), Jerry Frank (Matt Bomer), and Arthur Broussard (Nathan Lee Graham). The first season of the series also included Linda Lavin as Bunny’s mother, Sybil Schneiderman. Unfortunately, the legendary actress passed away at age 87, during production.

Though it would be unfair and inaccurate to blame any one studio, streaming service, or production company for this ever-growing trend, Mid-Century Modern joins the ranks of numerous TV shows centering LGBTQ+ characters and storylines that, despite receiving so much praise, fan support, and critical acclaim, were canceled after just one season. In this case, Mid-Century Modern even received four nominations at the 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards.

Since he announcement, fans have been sharing posts lamenting the show’s cancelation. ” What a shame, I really enjoyed it, it was old school in tone but I liked it for that reason & it had heart… Glad it got a season,” @cub_poplad wrote on X.

Other X reactions include @theimparted‘s, writing: “It was like a gay Golden Girls, something we very much needed at this time. This is so dumb! Definitely the kind of show that you had to let breathe and grow. Sitcoms are never going to be able to speak to a generation if they keep getting cut off.” @OrvilleLloyd commented, “This sucks! One good gay show on television deserved a second season! This show is the gay Golden Girls. Television really treats gay men like garbage. This show is hilarious, just so sad no more episodes.”

Mid-Century Modern is streaming on Hulu.
