With the National Football League’s regular season now underway, the Green Bay Packers are bringing the spirit of Lambeau Field and American football to London next, with a special “Packers Huddle” free fan gathering planned for the English capital next weekend.
The Packers Huddle in London will take place on 11 October at Redwood (London Bridge Station) from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Though the Packers will not be playing games overseas this year, Packers fans in England can still experience the excitement and the camaraderie of football season, with the Saturday Huddle event preceding an international NFL game in London on 12 October.
The event will feature special guest and former Packers center Scott Wells, who will meet and take photos with Packers fans. Attendees will also have the chance to enjoy a taste of Wisconsin, with fan-favorite foods inspired by a traditional Packers tailgate available for sampling. The festivities will be emceed by Stephen O’Brien, the founder of the UK Packers fan club and a popular Packers podcaster. O’Brien will greet fans and offer interactive Packers-themed contests, prizes and giveaways. Music and entertainment will also be provided by a local DJ.

The event in London is one of three Packers Huddle events in Europe this fall, with the recent Dublin event taking place in September and Berlin set for November. The Packers Huddles are part of the team’s efforts to build the brand globally in conjunction with the NFL’s Global Markets Program, which is aimed at driving fan growth beyond the U.S. The program awards clubs with marketing rights to countries around the world, allowing them to pursue programming, digital initiatives and other fan engagement opportunities that are consistent with what they can do in their home market.
About Scott Wells: Scott Wells was selected by the Packers in the seventh round of the 2004 NFL Draft out of the University of Tennessee. A leader on the offensive line, he played for the Packers for eight seasons, from 2004-11, playing in a total of 111 games. He served as starting center from 2006-11, missing only one game during that span and developing a reputation for his remarkable dependability.
Also known for his textbook technique and explosive strength, Wells was part of the offensive line that paved the way for teammate Ryan Grant’s back-to-back 1,200-yard rushing seasons. Responsible for designating the majority of the blocking assignment at the line of scrimmage, Wells helped ensure the offense’s success even in noisy, hostile road game environments. A 2011 Pro Bowl selection, Wells was the starting center for the Super Bowl XLV (45) championship team that defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2011.
