As we head into October, we have added ten new tracks to our Discovery Playlist on Spotify and Apple Music, including one premiere from earlier this week. Our track of the week goes to Bec Sandridge, with her lesbian yearning anthem, “At Last”, from her upcoming sophomore album, Happy Futures.

“At Last” blends Nashville sparkle with queer road-song… sad, sparkling, and emotionally powerful. Bec’s vocals have a beautiful depth and clarity, with a Springsteen-esque emotional punch that shimmers and captivates.

With this track, Bec has had her first foray into producing, which she co-produced with Nick Zaharias (The Buoys/MAY-A). Bec called in some other great musicians to help out. Emily Retsas (boygenius / Phoebe Bridgers / Kim Gordon) played bass, and it was mixed by Cian Riordan (St. Vincent / Billie Eilish / Lana Del Ray ). Her upcoming album, Happy Futures, is scheduled for release on October 31st.

“Just Drive” is the new single from Australian singer-songwriter Molly Millington. The single, a nostalgic and hopeful confessional, is from Millington’s freshly announced debut album Frank Morgan – out February 27th 2026. According to Millington, “Just Drive” is ‘about reminiscing on growing up and the lack of responsibilities, and wanting to drive away and start afresh…’ It’s a track brimming with energy; that feeling of open road escapism bottled up and repacked as a three minute country pop banger.

Singer-songwriter and noir-pop artist Luvcat returns this week with an anniversary re-release of fan favourite “He’s My Man”, and she’s not alone. Joining her on the track is none other than legendary punk poet Dr John Cooper Clarke. It’s gloriously theatrical and gothic (not all that surprising from a murder ballad) with an extended spoken word introduction from Cooper Clarke, before Luvcat’s ethereal vocal comes in. It’s just so much fun; full of texture and delivered with flair. There’s an accompanying music video that needs checking out too. The single, also comes ahead of the release of her debut album Vicious Delicious at the end of the month, so there’s plenty more Luvcat on the way.

“Sony Ericsson” from HighSchool is another beautiful messy and rich concoction of moodie showgaze and observational post-punk musings. It’s the latest single from their self-titled debut LP, due out on the 31st of October. About the track, they write: “Sony Ericsson is about the strange dynamics of modern connection, the games people play over text, and how a single message can spiral into endless over-analysis. A few words on a screen can be pulled apart, read and re-read, and imbued with layers of meaning that may never have been there to begin with. It speaks about the discrepancy between how someone appears on a phone screen versus who they are in real life, and how the digital version of a person can feel both enticing or alluring but also unreal or unknowable.”. The sounds may be nostalgic from England’s 80s post-punk landscape, but their content is very much for today.

Also added to the playlist this week is “On My Mind” the debut single from Larissa Roses, a singer-songwriter from Jersey in the US. It’s a charming slice of indie-pop, with some beautiful vocals from Roses, introspective lyricism, nuanced instrumentation, and a real sense of tenderness and emotion. Keeping things stateside, we’ve also added “Winter” the new single from Kansas City duo The Usual Suspects. It’s the second single from their upcoming debut album, and is all ‘about being in a relationship that brings you in and pushes you away.’ There’s a lovely guitar tone throughout, one that really complements the vocals perfectly. It’s got a real warmth to it too, and unfurls at a perfect, unhurried pace.

“NOSEBLEED” from Wafia takes us to the moon and back on this heartfelt, euphoric and high-energy bop. It’s the first release since her debut LP, Promised Land from early this year, and it’s a track destined to be heard in clubs with your arms in the air. Wafia gives us her take: “This song was inspired by a particularly vivid night out listening to live music. I wanted to capture the energy and colour of an incredible night filled with dancing on the floor with friends and hard core make outs, because sometimes it can be that simple.”. Be entertained.

Finally, also added to the playlist this week are,  the INXS- coded “The Product” from Fremantle singer-songwriter Joseph Thomas; “Crossed” from LA’s Taleen Kali; and “It Won’t Be Long Til I See You Again” from Sunny Luwe which we premiered the video for earlier in the week.
