Jen Hatmaker and ex-husband Brandon Hatmaker made a splash in 2014 with the premiere of their HGTV show, My Big Family Renovation — and their divorce drama has kept them in the spotlight a decade later.
While their reality TV show only lasted two seasons, fans continued to keep up with the Hatmakers and their five children. Their openness online made it even more surprising when Jen announced in 2020 that she and Brandon were getting divorced.
Five years later, Jen opened up about the split in her Awake memoir, revealing that Brandon was unfaithful before their split. The revelation brought the exes back into the limelight and left fans with questions about what the Hatmakers are doing now.

Jen Hatmaker
Jen was born in August 1974. She is the oldest of four kids. She has two sisters, Jana and Courtney, and one brother, Drew. Jen was married to Brandon for 26 years before she filed for divorce in 2020. The exes share five children.
Jen is an author, podcaster and book club curator, according to her official website. “I’ve written a bunch of bestsellers and have some fancy awards I keep on a shelf because I am an Enneagram 3 and we are the worst,” she wrote on the website.
Jen has been dating Tyler Merritt since 2021.
Brandon Hatmaker
Brandon was born in May 1972. He shares five kids with ex-wife Jen, whom he divorced in 2020 after more than two decades of marriage. Brandon is now married to Tina Hatmaker.
In addition to founding The Legacy Collective, Brandon is an author and former pastor of Austin New Church, which he and Jen founded in 2008.
Gavin and Danielle Hatmaker
Gavin is the eldest of the Hatmaker children, born in April 1998. He is a Texas Tech graduate and married man. Gavin wed Danielle in March 2024, and the couple welcomed their first baby, son Weston, in August 2025.
Sydney Hatmaker
Sydney was born in May 2000, becoming the eldest daughter for the pair. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2023. Sydney has been open about her sexuality and knowing she was a lesbian from a young age.
“This girl. She is the freest spirit that ever lived,” Jen gushed about her eldest daughter via Instagram in May 2024. “She has questioned the rat race, the live-to-work hustle, and the do-more-be-more-make-more narrative as long as I can remember.”
Caleb Hatmaker
Caleb was born in June 2002. “He was literally born buck wild,” Jen wrote via Facebook in June 2024 when he turned 24 years old. While she described her son as a “free spirit” who gives “exactly zero effs,” Caleb has always been focused on serving in the military.
In January 2025, Caleb started his Marines journey and left for Camp Pendleton in California, according to Jen’s Instagram. “Oorah to my wildest child, my funniest, most outrageous son. He leaves a crater in his absence I honestly have no idea how to manage. But man am I proud of him,” she gushed at the time.
Ben Hatmaker
Ben is the second youngest Hatmaker and the first child that the former couple adopted from Ethiopia. He was born in August 2003. When Ben turned 21 in August 2024, Jen called him “a joy and delight to the world just as you are not because of what you do but because of who you are.” She added via Instagram, “We don’t need you to succeed. We are just thrilled you are our guy. Lucky us to love you and have you.”

Remy Hatmaker
Remy is the youngest of the Hatmaker children. Jen and Brandon met her when she was 5 years old and later adopted her from Ethiopia.
“Remy is simply a beautiful soul. She is the purest person I know, which doesn’t make this an easy world for her,” Jen wrote of her daughter via Instagram in May 2024. “She isn’t scrupulous or shrewd or duplicitous which are rewarded behaviors. But she is sincere and earnest, loyal and loving, generous and kind. The best of all the things. Be good to her, world. She is a gem. Here she comes.”
Weston Hatmaker
Jen and Brandon’s first grandchild, Weston, was born in August 2025. He is the only son of Gavin and Danielle. “Weston has changed everything: I am now a grandmother, my kids are aunts and uncles, my parents are great grandparents,” Jen wrote via Instagram at the time to announce the birth of her grandchild.
Tyler Merritt
Merritt met Jen in 2021 while in New York. The pair have been dating ever since. Merritt is a comedian, actor and creator of The Tyler Merritt Project. He has also written several books, including 2021’s I Take My Coffee Black.
Tina Hatmaker
Brandon moved on with Tina following his divorce from Jen. Tina has remained out of the spotlight as much as possible, but describes herself as a “proud wife, mom and Texan,” in her Instagram bio.
Brandon claimed in September 2025 that Tina was not the woman he had an affair with before splitting from Jen. “I’ve said this before, but I’ll reiterate it here. It’s been assumed by some that Tina, my wife, was my affair partner. She was not,” he wrote via Substack. “In no way was Tina involved or a part of my divorce in 2020. Jen verifies this in her book. To be clear, Tina and I had never met until after the divorce was filed. This was also after Jen told me that for her ‘there was no path back to reconnection.’”
