FM 102.1 sounds different. And it did. I started listening in 1992. This station was like a continuation of my music appreciation classes in school. I discovered new artists every time I listened — The Violent Femmes, Depeche Mode, Beastie Boys, Green Day, Oasis, Coldplay, Bastille, Gorillaz, Imagine Dragons.
Artists who I now have a lifetime of memories associated with their songs. And it’s sad this awesome alternative radio station is not on the airwaves anymore (“The end of Milwaukee alt rock station FM102.1 leaves ‘huge void’” Sept. 28).
So tell your kids, grandkids, etc. about all the musical memories you have from listening to FM 102.1. As L.M. Montgomery said, “Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.”
