Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver may be divorced, but an insider tells Globe that she’s still a huge influence on his life to this day and he would be totally lost without her.
“They’re both very secure in their other relationships, Arnie with Heather [Milligan] and Maria with Matthew [Dowd], but that doesn’t stop them from seeking each other out for advice and other reasons,” the insider says. “They talk all the time. Mostly it’s about the kids, but they are friendly and close enough that they confide details about their personal lives, knowing it won’t go further.”
The insider adds that the Terminator star, 78, “always looks to her for recipes and career choices and his financial affairs.” Plus, Schwarzenegger is “always happy to help with those home repairs when they come up.”

“She’s been his rock and sounding board,” the insider explains. “There’s nothing remotely romantic about it. She’s more of a maternal figure to him now and he doesn’t know what he would do without her.”
Schwarzenegger and Shriver, 69, began dating in 1977, and by 1986, they had officially tied the knot. Over the next several years, they welcomed four children together, but in 2011, they announced their separation after the former governor of California revealed he had fathered a son with their longtime housekeeper, Mildred “Patty” Baena.
As Globe previously reported, last month, Schwarzenegger and Shriver, 69, reunited for dinner to celebrate their son Patrick Schwarzenegger’s 32nd birthday at Nobu in Malibu, just days after the FUBAR star joked about his divorce settlement.
