Gerry Turner thought he found love again when he starred as ABC’s first The Golden Bachelor. He got engaged to Theresa Nist at his final rose ceremony, and just weeks later the two got married in a grand televised wedding.
Sadly, the couple announced their split just a few months later. Now, Turner has revealed big news about his love life and it’s generating plenty of buzz in Bachelor Nation.
Turner, 74, went “Instagram Official” with a new lady in April, and just days later, he was gushing over being in love again. Now, Turner has revealed he is engaged again.
“We’ve got BIG news. The Golden Bachelor is OFF the market,” he wrote in a new Instagram post. He continued, “I found my perfect match and she said ‘YES.’ I Love this woman.”
Turner’s new fiancee is named Lana Sutton, and he told TMZ in April that she was the one who initially reached out to him.
She sent him a Facebook message, and Turner admitted he ignored the first one. However, she was persistent and messaged him again, and this time, he responded. Sutton shared that she grew up in a nearby Indiana town where Turner lived and soon, the two met.
Turner told TMZ that their first date was in March and they’ve been full steam ahead ever since. She is in her mid-50s and used to be a teacher, the media outlet shared. The Golden Bachelor star told TMZ that he didn’t think he believed in love at first sight, but she changed his mind.
Fans quickly flooded the comment section of Turner’s announcement post with notes of congratulations.
“Congratulations! You two seem perfect for each other,” one fan wrote.
Kathy Swarts, who was one of the ladies on Turner’s season of The Golden Bachelor, commented, “Congrats Gerry! All the best!”
Someone else wrote, “So happy for both of you. Very good choice Gerry.”
Nancy Hulkower, who was also a contestant on Turner’s season, wrote, “Wishing you all the best!!”
Another Instagram user shared, “Congratulations! You look very happy together! That’s some bling she has on her ring finger.”
There were a few comments referencing Nist that people left, but most of the notes were congratulatory in nature and focused on Turner’s happy news.
