Adam Sandler is famous for his relaxed, casual style, but he recently underwent a star-studded makeover thanks to an A-list actor friend.
PEOPLE Magazine shared details of Adam Sandler’s impressive glow-up. The Oscar-winning co-star behind it all is none other than George Clooney, his co-star in the film, Jay Kelly.
Clooney told PEOPLE at the New York Film Festival that he helped Sandler trade his baggy shirts and shorts for a more streamlined look. The result is a polished yet unmistakably Sandler style of dressing.
“I actually [have] been making Adam wear suits. Don’t you think he looks nicer instead of those big baggy shorts?” Clooney asked about Sandler’s glow-up.

He added, “I love him. He’s the sweetest man in the world. He’s a dear friend and the fact that I got to work with him again is [great].”
Adam Sandler’s baggy look began as a gag
Adam Sandler has become equally known for his relaxed look as well as his acting, writing, and producing talents. He’s cultivated an infamous style he’s since become synonymous with.
While he now embraces baggy shirts and shorts for comfort, he revealed on the Barstool Sports podcast Pardon My Take in 2025 the reason why he initially decided to dress this way, no matter what the occasion, was very different.
Sandler explained that the look started as a gag to impress people at the beach. He said, “The baggy stuff for the young Adam Sandler started for a reason. I used to be very, and this is not a lie; I was jacked.”
“I had a beautiful body. So I’d hide it and then surprise you at the beach when the stuff came off. It would be like, ‘The Sandman’s ripped? I didn’t know that,'” he concluded.
Adam Sandler’s a Fashion Trendsetter
To Esquire, Adam Sandler revealed another reason he typically favors baggy clothing. By wearing oversized items, he doesn’t have to go to a tailor.
He revealed, “I go with a lot of XXL even though I’ve been told I don’t need a XXL. I wear the XXL shirts.”
He added, “I wear the XXL shorts. I pull my socks up, goofy, and I wear my sneakers. Anything that feels soft I usually buy.”
Jay Kelly, starring Adam Sandler and George Clooney, is scheduled for release in theaters beginning on November 14, 2025. The film streams on Netflix beginning December 5, 2025.
