The hit Hallmark drama When Calls the Heart is in the middle of filming season 13.
Hallmark revealed on October 2 that actress Brooke Shields is returning to the show as Charlotte Thornton after her last appearance in season 3.
Fans were ecstatic to discover Brooke’s upcoming involvement on When Calls the Heart season 13.

A familiar face is heading back to Hope Valley—and it looks like fans are already screaming with excitement!
As When Calls the Heart continues filming season 13, folks of the hit Hallmark drama are eager to learn any information on what’s coming up on the show. While we all previously learned Melissa Gilbert would reprise her role as Georgie McGill on WCTH, it turns out she’s not the only famous face making a grand return.
As fans discovered on Hallmark’s official Instagram on October 2, actress Brooke Shields is coming back to When Calls the Heart as Elizabeth Thornton (Erin Krakow)’s former mother-in-law, Charlotte Thornton. What’s more, the star shared in a video clip how thrilled she was to come back to the show in a brand-new way.
“Charlotte Thornton is back!” Brooke exclaimed in the clip. “I am so happy to return to When Calls the Heart this all-new season.”
As soon as Brooke’s latest acting news broke, When Calls the Heart‘s social team had to express their thrill about her return as well!
“Welcome back, @brookeshields!” read the reply in the comments. “#Hearties will love seeing what Charlotte is up to these days!
And if that’s not enough, viewers voiced their elation online about seeing Brooke back on their TV screens.
“Yay!!!! Loved her as Jack’s mom! Can’t wait!!,” one shouted. “Amazing news! So excited to see Charlotte back in Hope Valley!” another exclaimed. “So excited for this upcoming season!! And for the return of Jack’s mom!” a different follower added.
As fans may remember, Brooke’s character Charlotte had emotional ties to Hope Valley. She first appeared back in season 3, when she came to visit her son Jack (Daniel Lissing) while attending Lee (Kavan Smith) and Rosemary Coulter (Pascale Hutton)’s wedding.
While she wasn’t seen after that, Charlotte was later referenced in the season 12 finale amid her grandson Little Jack (Hyland Goodrich)’s diabetes diagnosis. What’s more, Elizabeth and Little Jack went to Cape Fullerton (a.k.a. where Charlotte lives) in the final moments so he could receive proper medical care.
Even though Brooke’s storyline is being kept under wraps, we can’t wait to see how Charlotte fares when WCTH returns for season 13 on Hallmark!
