Letterkenny producer New Metric Media has invested in Kent Alterman and Sarah Babineau’s Good Walk Entertainment. The funding will be used to grow the indie label founded by former Comedy Central execs. New Metric and Good Walk will also partner on comedy projects as part of a non-exclusive partnership.
Good Walk’s previously announced shows include Off Color for Prime Video and Forklift for NBC and its slate includes projects with creator/showrunners including Owen Thiele, Brian Gallivan, llana Glazer and Chris Estrada among others. Toronto-based New Metric, meanwhile, produces shows including Letterkenny and Shoresy. It has two new half-hour comedies in the works, Hate the Player: The Ben Johnson Story and I Kill the Bear, the new series from Letterkenny creator, Jared Keeso.
The non-exclusive strategic partnership between the two companies covers co-productions, service work, distribution, packaging, financing, and brand extensions such as live events and gaming.
Good Walk and New Metric said they already have several projects that they are preparing to take out to buyers. These include series created by Canadians Steph Tolev (Filth Queen) and Allison Hogg (Baroness Von Sketch), and another from Norwegian writer/directors Jon Iver Helgaker and Jonas Torgersen (Norsemen).
“Comedy is an essential and vital medium, and we are thrilled to align with a team that believes in it as much as we do,” said Good Walk principals Alterman and Babineau. “Partnering with New Metric opens up a world, literally, of ideas and opportunities for Good Walk. We are grateful for their support and keen strategic partnership as we grow across TV, film and digital.”
“Kent and Sarah are behind some of the most seminal and culture-defining comedic voices of this generation that have certainly inspired our own sensibilities,” said Mark Montefiore, Founder & CEO of New Metric Media. “We are excited for this next phase of evolution for New Metric and thrilled that it starts off with Good Walk.”
