Tuesday, October 7th, will be the date when the early access sandbox city of Skate gets its first official season, and that means developer Full Circle is keen to showcase just what that update is bringing in a new dev blog and trailer.
First, the post confirms dates and general details for the game’s first two events: Skate-o-Ween will run from October 21st through November 11th and offer up some costumes or throwback cosmetic items for players to dress up in, while the 7-Ply Maple Harvest event scheduled between November 18th and December 2nd promises a rotating selection of community parks to ride in and themed cosmetics to earn. The update also brings a total of 40 new challenges that will be added every week, on top of extra seasonal tasks and challenges that tie in to earning rewards in the game’s first battle pass.
That battle pass, by the way, is broken up in 82 tiers – 38 standard and 42 premium, though some of the standard tiers are further delineated by being “standard (free)” – so while there are two tracks, it technically reads like there are three.
As for rewards, those include some character cosmetics and season currency, though of course those who buy in will be getting more items and will be able to continue earning rewards for at least one additional season, which has caused some consternation and confusion among fans who presumed buying in would prevent all FOMO. There will also be more real-world skating brands brought in, such as Creature, Independent, and Santa Cruz, all of which will likely be in the cash shop.
Finally the post shows off some additional decor and new skateable ramps being added to the map and a short list of some of the music tracks being added to the game. More granular details are promised as the first season nears, but for now those offered details and the aforementioned trailer can be seen below.
