Today’sCraig Melvin decided to bring up Jennifer Lopez’s divorce while interviewing her on Oct. 6 — and she totally called him out for it. Lopez stopped by the New York studio to discuss her new film, Kiss of the Spider Woman, when Affleck’s name entered the conversation.
“In the middle of filming this elaborate, beautiful musical, your divorce was also finalized with Ben,” Melvin said to Lopez. Before he could finish speaking, Lopez interjected, saying, “There you go! Look at this guy!”
Melvin was quick to recover. “But then I read that your ex is an executive producer on the film,” he replied. Lopez laughed off the potentially awkward moment and added a glowing review about her ex.
“If it wasn’t for Ben, the movie wouldn’t have gotten made. And I will always give him that credit,” she said.
Making a rare comment about her divorce from Affleck, Lopez simply said, “things happen, you have to keep going.”
This isn’t the first time that Lopez has made a comment about her 2024 divorce from Affleck, either. While chatting with Lee Cowan on CBS News Sunday Morning in late September, Lopez said that the divorce was “the best thing that ever happened” to her.
“Because it changed me. It helped me grow in a way that I needed to grow,” she said.
Lopez and Affleck rekindled their love story in 2021, nearly two decades after calling off their first engagement. They’d go on to tie the knot in 2022, but things went sound shortly thereafter. People magazine reported that the divorce was finalized 20 weeks after JLo filed.
