Fox News is facing a storm of criticism after its hosts accused Meghan Markle of “trolling the Royal Family”.
The discussion centered around a recent social media video featuring the Duchess of Sussex, which shows her riding in a limousine near the Paris tunnel where Princess Diana tragically lost her life in a car crash.
The video captures Meghan with her feet up inside the vehicle as it passes notable landmarks such as the Pont Alexandre III and the Pont des Invalides.
The next bridge along the Seine is the Pont d’Alma, the site of the fatal accident that claimed the lives of Princess Diana, her partner Dodi Fayed, and their driver, Henri Paul, in August 1997.
The former Suits actress, now 43, has been heavily criticized for the video, with Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams calling it “insensitive beyond belief”.
He added: “I think this is her saying, ‘You won’t do that to me.’ I think she’s trolling the royal family. She’s saying, ‘Listen. You might have gone after her that way, but you won’t do that to me.'”.
Delivering her own harsh assessment, Tomi Lahren said she believes Meghan’s recent behavior stems from an attention-seeking desire rather than messaging the Royal Family, arguing she perpetually craves publicity to remain relevant.
Tomi declared, “I think she did it intentionally, as well. I think, maybe I don’t give her as much credit as what you’re giving her. I think she loves attention. She’s got how many Netflix flopped shows and Spotify this and she’s got jams and she’s trying to be Martha Stuart and all this.
“Just as soon people stop talking about her, after we get exhausted of talking about her, she has to do something that we talk about her again.”
The host continued: “I think that it was less of a message to the Royal Family and more of a ‘Look at me, pick me, talk about me.'”.
Reporter Alicia Acuna confessed that Joey’s remark about Meghan apparently trolling the Royal Family surprised her, prompting her to wonder about Meghan’s true intentions behind the footage.
She expressed: “The troll thing kind of got me because, at first, I thought, did she just not know? Did she make a mistake? Was it something she discussed with her husband later and said, ‘I’m sorry’? Or is this something she did intentionally, and she was sending a message? That’s kind of stealth, if that’s what she did.”
The report ignited fury among viewers, with one individual denouncing the suggestions made in the video. They exclaimed: “OM,G that was never true. She got in a car with a severely drunk driver who went over the speed limit, which resulted in a horrendous accident. How dare you try and create sensationalism that the royal family did it?”
“Omg this is crazy,” chimed in a second viewer, while another concurred: “Fox News is vile.”
Another fumed: “OMG!! Leave the RF out of this!! This has absolutely nothing to do with them. They really should take the title away so there is no relation. M did it for attention. Nobody killed Diana. It was an accident.”
A fourth viewer added: “You guys are disgusting. Such an insult to Princess Diana!”.
