George recounted to Esquire in his cover story interview how he broke his six-month-long abstinence, which began as he was rehearsing and performing for “Good Night, and Good Luck,” a film that earned him five nominations.
Despite securing no wins, the actor and Amal attended a party afterwards and let the good times roll. “I got blasted,” he told the magazine about their evening of indulgence when they got the “barely-walking” kind of drunk. George narrated that he and Amal returned home following the party, and he was “just laughing.” Then, while they were “lying in bed,” he talked about finally catching up for “all my abstinence in one night.”
But being drunk like that also has its downsides, something the 64-year-old experienced the morning after. He remembered being “sick all day the next day,” calling it “hysterical,” and how it felt like he was “high school drunk” – like “dumba** drunk.”
The Hollywood veteran had received five Tony Award nominations for his presentation of the Broadway play. “Good Night, and Good Luck” premiered in March, and one particular nod landed him the Best Leading Actor category nomination.
