The Gladiator 2-Movie 4K Steelbook Collection Is 25% Off

If you’re in the mood you’re in the mood for a big-budget historical epic, you can save on the Steelbook Edition of the Gladiator 2-Movie 4K Collection while it’s on sale during Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days event. The box set, which launched earlier this year, contains 4K versions of Ridley Scott’s Gladiator and Gladiator 2–and thanks to Amazon’s limited-time discount, you can pick it up for just $50 (was $60). Like the many other Blu-ray deals available in Amazon’s sale, the price cut is only available through October 8–assuming it doesn’t sell out first–so pick it up while you can.

The Gladiator 2-Movie Collection Steelbook Edition includes 4K, standard Blu-ray, and digital streaming editions of both films , as well as a long list of special features. The set comes in a special edition case featuring new cover art and a special slipcover.

For the bonus features, Gladiator is presented in both its theatrical and extended cuts, accompanied by audio commentary tracks featuring director Ridley Scott and Crowe, a seven-part documentary titled “Strength and Honor,” deleted scenes, and additional featurettes. Gladiator 2 doesn’t have as many extras, but you will find deleted scenes and several short documentaries on the making of the film.

If you’ve never watched it, the first Gladiator movie starred Crowe as Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the armies of the North and general of the Felix Legions. A loyal servant to Rome’s deceased emperor, Marcus Aurelius, Maximus is also a father to a murdered son and husband to a murdered wife, hellbent on exacting vengeance–in this life or the next–against the current emperor of Rome, Commodus.

Gladiator 2 was released last year, and it’s set 20 years after the first film. Starring Mescal as the son of Meridius, the movie sees the young warrior taken prisoner after the Roman Empire invades Carthage–and just like his father–he is trained to fight in the gladiatorial arena. Gladiator 2 had an ensemble cast, as it included Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn, and Connie Nielsen. The movie was well-received after its release, with many critics praising the film’s action, authentic design, and strong acting.

In case this sells out, you can get Gladiator and Gladiator 2 on their own. Standard 4K copies are affordably priced at $15 (was $26) for Gladiator and $20 (was $30) for Gladiator 2, so if you don’t mind regular plastic covers, this can save you some cash. If would like a sturdy case for one of them, the Gladiator 2 Steelbook Edition is on sale for $29.49 (was $51). You can even get the original Gladiator with Mel Gibson’s 1995 epic Braveheart in a two-movie collection for $21.49 (was $34), and this includes both films in 4K.
