Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, stunned fans worldwide when she made an unexpected appearance at Paris Fashion Week last weekend.
The 44-year-old Royal was among the attendees at Balenciaga’s Spring/Summer 2026 womenswear presentation on Saturday night, showing her support for the brand’s new creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli.
However, it wasn’t just fans who were taken aback by Meghan’s European jaunt. Palace insiders also seemed to be caught off guard by her trip.
Since stepping back from Royal duties with her husband, Prince Harry, in 2020, Meghan has made only a handful of visits to the UK and Europe. Her most recent trip to the continent was for the Düsseldorf Invictus Games in 2023.
Her return to Europe appears to have ruffled some feathers among Palace insiders, particularly if she intends to spend more time in the UK and its surroundings.
While Meghan made a return to Paris over the weekend, she has yet to visit the UK since her last appearance in her husband’s homeland in 2022.
Despite Harry’s frequent trips back to the UK since their move to California five years ago, Meghan seldom accompanies him.
She typically stays behind at their Montecito residence with their two children, six-year-old Prince Archie and four-year-old Princess Lilibet.
The timeline for Harry or Meghan’s next UK visit remains uncertain, but it’s thought that Harry is eager to introduce his children to his homeland, despite initial safety worries.
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet haven’t set foot in the UK since 2022 and are said to have had minimal contact with their Royal kin.
