Alex Kozdron scored early, Rob Patrissi scored late and the defense did the rest in between as the unbeaten and nationally ranked University of Scranton men’s soccer team blanked Lycoming College, 2-0, in a Landmark Conference match Tuesday at Weiss Field.

Kozdron scored off a free kick in the third minute and Patrissi headed in a throw-in from Drew Paxson in the 75th minute for the Royals (8-0-3 overall, 3-0 league), who are No. 15 in NCAA Division III. Scranton’s defense limited Lycoming to four shots on goal in recording its 10th shutout of the season.

PSU-Brandywine 2, Keystone 0: At La Plume, Dakari Burton scored in the first half for Penn State-Brandywine, which then got an own goal in the second half to complete a United East Conference win over Keystone College (2-9, 0-3).

Women’s soccer

At Williamsport, Elise Nicholas scored off a rebound with less than 12 minutes remaining to break a scoreless tie and the University of Scranton went on to defeat Lycoming College, 2-0, in Landmark Conference action.

Jenna Borelli provided an insurance goal with 4:06 to play for the Royals (8-2-2, 3-0). Scranton’s defense did not allow a shot on goal in earning its eighth shutout of the season.

PSU-Brandywine 10, Keystone 0: At La Plume, Emma Kearns scored five goals to lead Penn State-Brandywine to a United East Conference road victory over Keystone College (0-9-1, 0-3).

Women’s volleyball

At Scranton, Marywood University extended its winning streak to nine with a 3-0 victory over Drew University. Scores were 25-21, 25-17, 25-18.

Carolina Samaniego had a team-best 10 points with eight kills for the Pacers (16-1). She also added 11 digs. Taylor Hallam and Genevieve Pollock totaled seven kills, while Hallam chipped in four total blocks. Catie Woolf added 22 digs and Ayla Bransford had 28 assists.

Harcum 3, Lackawanna 2: At Scranton, Harcum College scored 12 of the final 15 points in the fifth set to earn a 3-2 victory over Lackawanna College in a NJCAA Region 19 Division II game at the Lackawanna College Student Union. Scores were 25-20, 21-25, 25-22, 20-25, 17-15.

Jana Hofmann finished with a team-high 24 kills for the Lady Falcons (7-9, 3-2), who forced a fifth and deciding set by rallying from a 15-7 deficit to win the fourth set. Skylar Theis and Neurdia Osias each added eight kills. Kaitlyn Reed collected four kills, four aces and 26 assists, while Ellania Morales totaled four kills, two aces and 19 assists.

Women’s tennis

At Scranton, Marywood University improved to 5-0 with a 7-0 win over Kings’ College. Avianna Santarelli (No. 3), Catarina English (No. 4) and Hannah Brownlee (No. 6) each had 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles for the Pacers.

Men’s tennis

At Scranton, Marywood University blanked King’s College, 7-0, to end a seven-match losing streak in the series dating to the 2012-13 season. Gavin Gagliardi (No. 1) and Zane Smoker (No. 3) won their respective singles matches, 6-0, 6-0 for the Pacers (5-2), while Fred Kloss won in three sets at No. 5 singles.

Field hockey

At Scranton, Celeste Hoffman scored a pair of fourth-quarter goals to lead Misericordia University to a 3-1 win over Marywood University in a nonconference matchup.

Ashleigh Steele gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead at the half with a second-quarter goal. Marywood (5-7) tied the game in the third quarter on a goal by Olivia Seidel. Hoffman scored at 56:57 in the fourth quarter to put the Cougars ahead by one, before she provided some breathing room with a goal at 58:51 on an assist from Abigail O’Donnell.
