Hours after asking fans to pray for her sister, Dolly Parton, Freida Parton returned to social media with an update to reassure those concerned about the entertainer’s health.
Freida took to Facebook late on October 7 to explain why she had posted earlier in the day about being “up all night” praying for her sister, who is currently facing undisclosed health challenges. She wrote, “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead [sic] to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.”
The post sparked concern among fans, who feared Freida’s message suggested Dolly’s health might be more serious than previously disclosed. Hours later, she returned to Facebook with an update.
“I want to clear something up. I didn’t mean to scare anyone or make it sound so serious when asking for prayers for Dolly,” Freida explained.

“She’s been a little under the weather, and I simply asked for prayers because I believe so strongly in the power of prayer. It was nothing more than a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister. Thank you all for lifting her up. Your love truly makes a difference.”
Dolly Parton’s illness
Freida Parton’s post comes less than two weeks after Dolly Parton, 79, took to Instagram to share a deeply personal message about her health with fans. The entertainer revealed she was “dealing with some health challenges” and was advised by her doctors to “have a few procedures.”
While she did not disclose her medical condition, Parton did joke that the scheduled procedures had nothing to do with her “usual trip to see my plastic surgeon.” She added that she needed to take this time to focus on her health so she could deliver the live shows her fans have come to expect.
According to The New York Times, Parton was scheduled to perform a Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace. The six-concert series was postponed to September 2026. That same year, a Broadway musical will debut chronicling Parton’s life, Hello, I’m Dolly.
Along with her health challenges, Parton continues to mourn the death of her husband, Carl Dean. She told TODAY, “We were together 60 years. I’ve loved him since I was 18 years old, and it’s a big adjustment just trying to change patterns and habits.”
“I’ll do fine. I’m very involved in my work and that’s been the best thing that could happen to me. But I’ll always miss him, of course, and I’ll always love him,” she concluded.
Dolly Parton continues to focus on her health and well-being, assuring fans she is not “quitting the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet.” Her sister Freida remains by her side, offering love and support throughout this challenging time.
