Rosie O’Donnell has revisited her 2007 war of words with Elisabeth Hasselbeck of Cranston, Rhode Island, on “The View.”
On the “Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel” show, O’Donnell said she believes that the 2007 clash between her and Hasselbeck was planned ahead of time by a producer behind-the-scenes at the time, citing the split-screen shot of the two women on the program.
“Our producer is not ‘on the fly’ kind of guy. He wasn’t like Mr. Let’s-Go-to-a-Split-Screen,” O’Donnell said. “That was prepared. So, the whole thing, I think, was a set-up.”
Hasselbeck and O’Donnell exchanged tough talk over the Iraq War on the show. The New York comedian condemned the conflict and Hasselbeck, who was born in Cranston and went to St. Mary Academy – Bay View in East Providence, called O’Donnell unpatriotic.
Rosie O’Donnell arrives in Australia ahead of her “Common Knowledge” show at the Sydney Opera House on Oct. 6, 2025.
What happened to Elisabeth Hasselbeck
Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who made her debut on television as a “Survivor” contestant and later made her mark as the American conservative voice on the “The View,” has drifted away from the television spotlight and has instead focused on her family and writing Christian children’s books.
“GOD’s MASTERPIECE is #4 on the @nytimes best seller list – praying the truth of God’s promise and His message continues to bless little readers with this book that He allowed me to write,” Hasselbeck said on a April 2 Instagram post.
Her published books include “Flashlight Night: An Adventure in Trusting God,” “God’s Masterpiece: An Adventure in Discovering Your Worth,” as well as two dieting books and one memoir.
