MILWAUKEE — The grand opening of the Milwaukee Repertory Theater’s new home in the Associated Bank Theater Center will kick off with a concert from three-time Tony Award recipient Bernadette Peters on Saturday.
After over six years of planning and more than 250,000 hours of construction, Milwaukee Rep’s new home at the Associated Bank Theater Center is now complete. The 152,500-square-foot center was modernized and expanded, connecting three theaters and creating an educational space for the community.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held prior to the opening night gala concert with Broadway Legend Bernadette Peters.
Bernadette Peters is recognized for her work on stage, film and television, in concert and on recordings. She’s the recipient of three Tony Awards, a Golden Globe, four Emmys, and more.
The concert will begin at 8 p.m. in the new Ellen & Joe Checota Porwerhouse Theater and will be followed by dessert and coffee.

The new Associated Bank Theater Center offers three theaters in one: the Ellen & Joe Checota Powerhouse Theater, the Herro-Franke Studio Theatre and the Stackner Cabaret. All three theaters connect through a shared multi-level lobby.
The Sandra & William Haack Galleria, connecting all three theaters, will offer space for pre-and post-show gatherings, as well as a gift shop, food and bar offerings.
Aside from the performance spaces, the center houses a new Herzfeld Foundation Education & Engagement Center, with classroom and education programming for students and community members of all ages.
