Media personality Charlamagne tha God and iHeartRadio marked a milestone on Tuesday, October 7th, highlighting the 5th anniversary of The Black Effect Podcast Network. The evening marked half a decade of the network doing exactly what it set out to do, including elevating, amplifying, and empowering Black voices through storytelling that celebrates the culture, challenges the norm, and builds community.
Black Effect was launched with a goal to become the world’s largest podcast publisher for Black audiences. Since its launch, The Black Effect has created space for some of Black culture’s most influential and trusted voices. We’ve seen over the past five years how the network has driven important conversations across social justice, pop culture, mental health, sports, news, and comedy, while redefining what representation in media sounds like.
The evening brought together some of the network’s biggest personalities including Real Housewives of Potomac stars, Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon (Reasonably Shady), Will Lucas (Black Tech Green Money), Carlos King (Reality with The King), and Jay Barnett (Just Heal with Dr. Jay) for a night of fireside chats moderated by The Breakfast Club host Loren LoRosa. The conversations were authentic and funny, often reflecting on how podcasting became more than just entertainment but an opportunity to have conversations within the community.
