Eric Dane stunned fans back in April when he announced that he has been diagnosed with ALS, but this week he made it clear to everyone that he is going to battle the disease every step of the way.
Dane, who starred in the hit HBO series “Euphoria” has two daughters, Billie Beatrice, 15, and Georgia Geraldine, 13, and he said he plans to be around to watch them grow.
“I wanna ring every bell,” he told California congressman Eric Swalwell in a TikTok video on Sept. 29. “I have two daughters at home. I wanna see them graduate college, get married, maybe have grandkids.
“I wanna be there for all that,” he added. “So, I’m going to fight until the last breath on this one.”
Dane, 52, spoke with Swalwell in Washington, D.C. about funding for ALS research, according to E!News.
Dane first addressed his diagnosis back in April.
“I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this chapter,” he told People Magazine then.
“I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to ‘Euphoria’ next week,” he added. “I kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time.”
There is no cure for ALS, which is also called Lou Gehrig’s Disease. It’s a degenerative disease that affects the brain and spine causing patients to gradually lose the ability to speak, eat, walk and breathe on their own, PEOPLE reported.
The life expectancy is typically three-to-five years.
Dane has a long list of credits outside of “Euphoria.” He appeared in 139 episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy” as Dr. Mark Sloan, and has a number of movie credits to his name, too.
