LSU Cinema for the Ears | Digital Media Center Theatre

The Experimental Music & Digital Media (EMDA) program at the LSU School of Music invites everyone to attend their concert featuring electronic and music art composed by LSU students, faculty and internationally acclaimed composers. Beginning at 7:30 p.m., the show will explore how blending computer science, art and engineering can lead to immense creativity.

Red Stick Spice Cooking Class: Hand Formed Pasta | Red Stick Spice Company

Join Louisiana Culinary Instructor Lili Courtney for a hands-on pasta forming class from 6 to 8 p.m. Participants will learn how to shape cavatelli, malloreddus, gnocchi and orecchiette. The class will dive into the pasta shapes history, ending in a full meal that can be enjoyed with delicious sauce. The class cost $110, and students get a store discount. Purchase tickets here.

LSU Chamber Winds: “Mozart – Gran Partita” | St. Alban’s Chapel

Attend the LSU Wind Ensemble for their semesterly Chamber Winds performance. This showcase will begin at 7:30 p.m. and transport the audience into a realm of classical music by displaying the artistry and precision of LSU’s woodwind musicians in an intimate chamber setting.

DISK FULL: Christine Bruening & Janna Ahrndt | Glassell Gallery

Continuing the “Faculty in Conversation Series,” Christine Bruening & Janna Ahrndt will be bringing up topics surrounding our digital lives and compulsion to save digital media. The talk will be from noon to 5 p.m., and feature conversations on graveyards of forgotten memes, bookmarked webpages and other data fragments that lurk in our digital world.

The Music of Ravel & Baker: Delony, Lilleslåtten and Parker in Recital | Music Building, Room 115

For an evening of chamber music, join faculty members Willis Delony, Espen Lilleslåtten and Dennis Parker who will begin their performance at 7:30 p.m. Two works will be played, beginning with Maurice Ravel’s Trio for piano, violin and cello, this song directly contrasts the second song of the evening, which will be Roots II by American composer David Baker.

Hollydays by the Junior League of Baton Rouge | Raising Cane’s River Center

Lasting until October 18, the Junior League is hosting a Hollydays Market where visitors can “Shop for a Cause.” By shopping for a cause, attendees are supporting the Junior League’s outreach to dynamic and mission-based training programs. Alabama | Raising Cane’s River Center

Continuing their legendary run, Alabama will be live in concert beginning at 7 p.m. From humble beginnings to the top of the charts, this band has released numerous iconic hits and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005. Benny’s Haunted Car Wash | Benny’s Car Wash, Siegan Lane Location

Take a thrilling ride through Benny’s for the fifth Annual Haunted Car Wash if you dare. Costing $30 per car, this spooky event will take place October 17 and 18. Although the event is from 6 to 10 p.m., the first hour each night will be safe for all ages to enjoy. Following the event, all proceeds will be donated to Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital.

Baton Rouge Maker Faire | Main Library at Goodwood

Attend the 12th annual Baton Rouge Maker Faire as they dive into the art of filmmaking from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Celebrate the makers of films and the hard work done behind the scenes on movie sets through unique screenings and fun activities such as writers room seminars, live stunt demonstrations and a live film score performed by Breadstick Space Opera.

Ogden Park Prowl | Ogden Park Neighborhood

Continuing the celebration for Ogden Park’s 100 year anniversary, the Ogden Park Prowl is returning for an afternoon of live music, storytelling and more. This art and music festival will be from 1 to 5 p.m., and will cater to the whole family. Shop local artists and makers and enjoy food from neighborhood favorites.

Leanne Morgan: Just Getting Started | Raising Canes River Center Arena

Southern comedian Leanne Morgan will be taking the stage to tell humorous and captivating stories in a whirlwind of comedy and relatability. Morgan was raised in rural Appalachia and found a love of comedy through an attempt at selling jewelry. The show will begin at 7 p.m., and tickets can be purchased here. Parking costs $10 and can be purchased here.
