Kate Middleton is renowned for her support of British designers, frequently donning locally-made attire for official events.

When the future queen selects an affordable item from one of her go-to high-street brands, those designs are known to fly off the shelves in no time. Over the summer, an outfit choice by Kate appeared to send a subtle message to Meghan Markle.
And a recent outfit she wore during a visit to two mills in Kent and Suffolk also reportedly contained a “hidden message” to her estranged brother-in-law and his wife, as per a fashion expert.
For this occasion, which was intended to honor the UK fashion industry, Kate sported entirely British pieces. She visited Sudbury Silk Mills and Marina Mills wearing a gray checked power suit by Bella Freud.
The ‘Earl’ suit jacket is priced at $1,130, the ‘Schoolboy trousers’ at $700, and she completed the look with a black Boden sweater and gold hoop earrings by Daniella Draper, valued at around $3,270.
Adding a personal touch, Kate wore a necklace as a sweet homage to her three kids, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven. The gold piece by Daniella Draper, featuring their initials, costs just under $670.
Fashion expert Laura Craig told the Daily Mail that this outfit choice, which Kate wore around the time of Harry’s recent visit back to the UK, appeared to send a “message” to the Sussexes.

“Since nothing in Kate’s wardrobe is ever worn by accident, it’s hard not to question her design – and timing – in choosing to wear such a coded and patriotic fabric as the Prince of Wales check,” the expert claimed.
“Smart as it is, it’s often avoided by those on public duties due to the fact that the checks don’t always photograph well, and can appear blurry. Clearly, this was of less concern than the message it conveyed.
“The message being: here stand the real bastions of the British royal family, in all their stalwart dedication to king and country. Any other pretenders can get back in their box – or on a plane to Montecito.”
Kate sported the suit again just weeks later during a trip to RAF Coningsby Air Base, and while meeting with some young children who had dressed up in their finest outfits to greet the Princess, she expressed regret for not doing the same.
