Vince Gill is celebrating an extraordinary milestone — 50 years since leaving his Oklahoma home to chase a career in music — with a brand-new project that honors every chapter of that journey. The Country Music Hall of Famer and Grammy-winning artist has signed a lifetime deal with his longtime label, MCA, and will release a series of themed EPs titled ’50 Years From Home’ over the next year. The first instalment, ‘I Gave You Everything I Had,’ arrives worldwide on October 17.
The EP marks a deeply personal chapter for Gill, who has drawn from a vault of more than 100 songs written in recent years. Produced by Gill himself and featuring contributions from longtime collaborators including Paul Franklin, Tom Bukovac, and his wife Amy Grant and daughters Jenny and Corrina Gill on background vocals, the seven-song collection blends nostalgia, reflection, and gratitude. The tracklist includes six brand-new songs alongside a newly recorded version of ‘Go Rest High on That Mountain,’ featuring an additional verse.
Each volume in the ’50 Years From Home’ series will explore a different theme or era of Gill’s life, carefully curated to tell his story through song. The cover art for ‘I Gave You Everything I Had’ features his cherished 1942 Martin D-28 Herringbone guitar — purchased in 1975 with his life savings — symbolising the start of his lifelong dedication to music.
Describing the project as “all very personal,” Gill says, “I love the emotion of music; that’s what I go to it for. It stirs something inside me that I can’t describe. The songs I do and the way I sing them and the way I play them all try to convey those emotions.” After five decades of artistry, Gill continues to evolve — with patience, perspective, and the timeless storytelling that has made him one of country music’s most respected voices.
