Robbie Williams recently guested on The Graham Norton Show alongside Julia Roberts, Benedict Cumberbatch, Colin Farrell, and Gloria Estefan. During his appearance, the English musician made a shocking confession to Roberts about her film, Pretty Woman, leaving the actress shocked. The romantic comedy, released in 1990, made Julia Roberts a household name.
Robbie Williams’ confession left Julia Roberts speechless
In the October 10 episode of The Graham Norton Show, Robbie Williams sat next to Julia Roberts on the sofa. After sitting down, Norton asked Williams who he knew among the celebrities sitting next to him. The 51-year-old replied, “I know everybody from watching them on the telly,” as the Notting Hill actress smiled and turned to the others.
Williams turned his attention to Roberts, telling her he had seen Pretty Woman “six times in a row,” surprising her. He added, “And at the end of the sixth time, I was like, ‘One day, I will take a prostitute shopping.’ And I did. I did. So, thank you.”
The former Take That member’s comment left Roberts speechless and caused the other guests to smile. Benedict Cumberbatch exclaimed “Wow!” in response to Williams’ story, while Norton humorously remarked, “That’s a lovely story, Robbie. Pretty Woman, directed by Garry Marshall and co-starring Richard Gere, was instrumental in Roberts’ rise to fame. In the film, the 57-year-old plays a Hollywood escort, Vivian Ward, who is hired by a wealthy corporate raider, Edward Lewis (Gere), to accompany him to several social and business functions. While spending time together, Ward and Lewis fall in love. However, their blossoming relationship complicates matters, as they are from widely contrasting worlds.
Besides Roberts and Gere, the film also stars Ralph Bellamy, Jason Alexander, Laura San Giacomo, Héctor Elizondo, Alex Hyde-White, Amy Yasbeck, and Elinor Donahue, among others. For her performance, Julia Roberts earned a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical. She also achieved nominations for an Oscar and a BAFTA Award.
