Kirsten Dunst has reacted to Channing Tatum admitting he was “intimidated” to work with her in their upcoming film, Roofman, at its recent screening. The two are paired opposite each other in Derek Cianfrance’s new directorial venture, which arrived in theaters this past weekend on October 10.

The Academy Award nominee finally addressed her co-star’s comment about her. On September 6, the two attended the screening of their film Roofman at the Toronto International Film Festival.
At the time, Channing Tatum told PEOPLE he was “so intimidated to work” with Kirsten Dunst before they began filming the movie. “Everything she’s ever done, I’ve been obsessed with,” he remarked sweetly. Furthermore, the Magic Mike actor confessed candidly, “I was so intimidated to work with her — and when I say intimidated, I was afraid. I just wanted her to like me. I was like, ‘Please like me!’”
On September 8, Dunst finally reacted to Tatum’s comments about her. At the New York screening of the film, she told PEOPLE, “That’s so sweet.” The Hidden Figures actress returned the favor by lavishing praise on him. She said, “I had loved him in so many movies, and he’s just an anomaly to me, all the facets of who he is. And he’s such a genuine person. He’s such a kind guy. And he’s so talented.”
Dunst also raved about Tatum’s performance in the film. “And I’m just really excited for people to see him in this movie, in this role. I’m just so proud of him, and Derek, and I really love this group so much,” the 43-year-old actress added. Additionally, Kirsten Dunst named Foxcatcher and 21 Jump Street as her two favourite Channing Tatum movies.
Meanwhile, Dunst and Tatum’s upcoming film, Roofman, is a crime-comedy drama film inspired by real-life robber Jeffrey Manchester. A former Army Ranger, he commits robberies across fast food outlets in the city and hides in a toy store. However, Jeffrey falls in love with divorced mom Leigh, which changes the course of his life.
