It’s hard to believe the great Heath Ledger died more than 15 years ago.
And now, one of his exes, Heather Graham, is speaking out about the late Oscar winner, who passed away in 2008 at age 28.
Graham, 55, joined Kristin Davis‘ Are You a Charlotte? podcast, where the host, 60, asked about her past romance with the Australian actor — since Davis has an anecdote that directly relates to the past relationship, as Us Weekly noted.
“I think I was at a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, possibly on Sunset Blvd., and I think you were there,” Kristin told Graham in the podcast episode published on Monday, Oct. 13. “And I think you were there with Heath Ledger.”
“Yes, I dated him,” Graham replies. “I think we might’ve watched [your show Sex and the City] together, and I think he actually really liked it.”
The Boogie Nights actress adds that she is “proud” that she dated him, saying, “I was very in love with him when we dated. He’s kinda amazing.”
Graham continues, “I wish he was still alive. That would be nice. Some of these really bright lights don’t get to live so long.”
Ledger and Graham dated between 2000 and 2001 after reportedly meeting in Prague, Us Weekly reports, when Ledger was filming A Knight’s Tale and Graham was shooting From Hell.
Speaking of Ledger’s 2001 movie, his tragic death is one reason A Knight’s Tale co-star Paul Bettany can’t rewatch the film, as he recently revealed during this year’s L.A. Comic Con.
Ledger tragically died of an accidental drug overdose after starring in an impressive number of roles, ranging from the ’90s rom-com 10 Things I Hate About You to the intimate and award-winning Brokeback Mountain.
His untimely death followed a harsh downward spiral in his personal life. He was struggling with the end of his relationship with partner Michelle Williams, with whom he shared a daughter, and was also dealing with addiction and insomnia.
