Justin Trudeau has been “pursuing” Katy Perry since their first date, as the pair have an “easy connection,” a source has said.
The former Canadian prime minister, 53, and the singer, 40, were seen kissing on the upper deck of Katy’s yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara in California.
Back in July, the pair were spotted walking a dog together and dining at Le Violon in Montreal, Canada – and Justin then attended Katy’s Lifetimes tour stop at the Bell Centre.
Their outings began shortly after each had ended a long-term relationship. Perry confirmed in June that she and actor Orlando Bloom had split. The two share a five-year-old daughter.
Justin also announced his separation from Sophie Grégoire in 2023 after 18 years of marriage. They share three children together.
The source added that after their first date in Montreal, the former PM had been “pursuing” Katy, adding that he even flew to California to see her during a tour break.
“They have an easy connection,” the insider said. “She finds him attractive. He’s been very respectful.”
Back in August, a source familiar with the situation told People the two had an “instant connection” and were exploring their interest in each other.
“They are interested in each other, but it will take a while to see where this goes,” the source said.
“She is traveling around the world, and he is figuring out his life now that he is no longer prime minister of Canada, but there is an attraction. They have a lot in common.”
The source added that both have shared parenting duties. They said, “There are ways to see the other and still fulfill their parenting responsibilities.”
Katy and Justin haven’t commented about their romance publicly.
