Sarah McLachlanis a proud Swiftie!
The ’90s music icon, known for hits like “Angel” and “I Will Remember You,” recently discussed a few of her favorite tunes from the discography of fellow songwriting genius, Taylor Swift, including a track from Swift’s 2020 album Evermore.
Sarah McLachlan Sings a Snippet of a Taylor Swift Evermore Track
During a recent interview on CTV’s Etalk, McLachlan was asked to name some of her favorite songs from Swift, revealing some of her top choices for songs she would like to cover. She began by first naming “Cardigan” off Swift’s 2020 Folklore album.
While she couldn’t remember the name of another one of her favorites, McLachlan decided to sing a snippet of the song, which was identified as Swift’s “Cowboy Like Me” from Evermore.
In the video from the interview, uploaded to Instagram earlier this month, McLachlan, 57, can be heard singing the first couple of lines from the song, which include the lyrics, “And the tennis court was covered up / With some tent-like thing / And you asked me to dance / But I said, ‘Dancing is a dangerous game.'”
Many Swifties were left wanting more after seeing the clip, with several Instagram users taking to the comments to ask McLachlan to release an official cover of the alternative indie song.
“She would sound SO GOOD singing Cowboy Like Me!! Love that song!” one fan wrote, while another called the track a “Highly underrated TS song.”
“Cowboy Like Me!! @officialsarahmclachlan please do a cover!!!!!” another fan implored.
Sarah McLachlan Is Asked Which of Her Songs She Would Like Taylor Swift to Cover
Also during her Etalk conversation, McLachlan was asked to name which song from her own discography she would like Swift, 35, to cover.
“Oh I would never suggest,” McLachlan said with a smile. “She can do whatever the heck she wants.”
McLachlan then flipped the question on the interviewer, who suggested songs like “Mary” and “Building a Mystery” would be good options for a cover from Swift—and many fans in the comments seemed to agree.
“Building a Mystery was my answer!!!” one user wrote, while others suggested some of McLachlan’s songs like “Angel,” “Possession “Ice Cream,” “Good Enough” and more.

“Would love if Taylor did ‘Do What You Have to Do.’ Very folklore/evermore/TTPD,” someone else chimed in.
“A Taylor cover of Adia 🙌” another fan suggested.
Meanwhile, one fan wrote, “Forget the covers… we need a @taylorswift and @officialsarahmclachlan collab!!”
