The music world is mourning the death of legendary R&B and neo-soul artist D’Angelo, who passed away at 51 following a battle with pancreatic cancer. Known for his unmatched artistry and pioneering influence on soul music, the “Lady” singer’s passing has left fans and fellow artists heartbroken.

Here’s how celebrities paid tribute to D’Angelo

Following the news of his death on October 14, tributes poured in for D’Angelo from across the entertainment industry. Beyoncé posted a wholehearted tribute on her official website, writing, “Rest in peace, Michael Eugene Archer, known to the world of music as the inimitable D’Angelo. We thank you for your beautiful music, your voice, your proficiency on the piano, your artistry.” She added, “You were the pioneer of neo-soul and that changed and transformed rhythm & blues forever. We will never forget you.”

Actor and musician Jamie Foxx also posted an emotional Instagram post, writing, “God put you here for a reason and we were all lucky enough to see what God had made. That’s why today real tears run down my face… this one hurts like hell… rest up my friend… you will be missed forever… But your music and your impression will be felt for generations to come.”

Hip-hop legend Missy Elliott sent prayers to D’Angelo’s son, Michael Archer II, who lost both parents within seven months. “Rest peacefully D’Angelo,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “It’s painful for children to see their parents go… so send prayers up for his son who also lost his mom this year for strength,” she added.

Furthermore, music director Michael Bearden, who worked on D’Angelo’s debut album, said on Instagram he was “gutted” by the loss. “D’s talent was so pure and natural he moved energy in a way that only geniuses could… D’Angelo was one of one… He created an entire genre of music just by being himself.”

Additionally, artists like Flea, Jennifer Hudson, Doja Cat
