Iconic director Christopher Nolan has been quite vocal about his choices when it comes to movies and actors. In fact, the director revealed his favorite acting performance of 2025, and surprisingly, it’s not Leonardo DiCaprio in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another.
While talking on The Director’s Cut Podcast (via Men’s Xp), Nolan called Dwayne Johnson’s performance as Mark Kerr in A24’s The Smashing Machine the best performance of this year, as of now.
It’s heartbreaking. I think it’s an incredible performance. I don’t think you’ll see a better performance this year.
