Iconic ’90s alt-rockers Sugar, helmed by the equally legendary singer/songwriter Bob Mould, are back with their first new music in 30 years and the promise of new tour dates.
The band, which hit big in the 1990s with such songs as “If I Can’t Change Your Mind,” “Believe What You’re Saying,” and “Your Favorite Thing,” made the news official with a post to their Instagram page on Wednesday.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Mould, a prolific solo artist who just completed a string of solo electric gigs with Sugar bassist David Barbé as his opening act, said he wanted to see “if people are still interested” in his old combo.
A new song, “House of Dead Memories,” is now streaming from the band’s official website. And the combo teased upcoming dates in New York City and London next May.

The band revealed that they quickly recorded the song at the Tiny Telephone recording studio in Oakland, Calif. A video for the song includes archival footage of the band, Stereogum reported.
The band will play two shows in New York City at Webster Hall on May 2 and 3. That’s followed by two shows at the O2 Arena on May 23 and 24.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. local time, preceded by presales on Oct. 22 at 10 a.m. local time, Stereogum reported.
Rumors began to swirl earlier this month that Mould was reconvening the band when the Instagram page appeared, and all three members of the band: Mould, Barbé and drummer Malcolm Travis followed it.
Vocalist/guitarist Mould, who first gained fame with the ‘80s punk band Hüsker Dü, formed Sugar in 1992. The band released three studio records before calling it a day in 1995.
