Tim Robinson stars in the HBO series "The Chair Company," co-created with frequent collaborator Zach Kanin. The show may or may not be set in Columbus. Or somewhere in Ohio. We're not sure yet.

Comedian, actor and screenwriter Tim Robinson, known for the award-winning absurdist sketch comedy show “I Think You Should Leave,” is back with another show — one that drops a couple of very familiar names.

“The Chair Company,” which premiered Oct. 12 on HBO, stars Robinson as Ron Trosper, the project lead at Fisher Robay, a company that builds shopping malls. An embarrassing workplace mishap sends him over the edge and down a conspiracy rabbit hole.

Minutes into the season opener, a shout-out to two cities left Columbus-area viewers scratching their heads.

Tim Robinson stars in the HBO series “The Chair Company,” co-created with frequent collaborator Zach Kanin. The show may or may not be set in Columbus. Or somewhere in Ohio. We’re not sure yet.

In the first scene, Ron and his family are at a restaurant when a server recognizes his son, Seth (played by Will Price), as a basketball player from Dublin Jerome High School, noting that Dublin “whipped” her alma mater, New Albany High School.

Now, locals are wondering: Is “The Chair Company” set in Columbus?

That’s the sort of surreal mystery that surrounds “The Chair Company” as a whole. Full of unhinged, cringy goodness, it’s the third series co-created by Robinson and Zach Kanin, who collaborated on “Detroiters” and “I Think You Should Leave.”

Alas, there will be no bragging rights for Columbus.

In fact, Seth Trosper would have a two-hour commute to attend Dublin Jerome, since the show is actually set in Canton, according to HBO representatives.

“The Chair Company” will air at 10 p.m. each Sunday, leading up to the season finale on Nov. 30.
