Endlesss founder Tim Exile has had a tough time of it in recent years, with major health issues and the related collapse of his startup. But last year he returned with ‘non-AI generative groovebox’ Scapeshift, and now he has released another inventive tool for music-makers. It’s called Finalist, and it’s focused on mixing.
“Finalist marries intelligent audio processing with intuitive controls. Experiment rapidly with different mix settings and get a great sound in minutes,” is the pitch. “A rapid prototyping playground for auditioning entirely different mix approaches in seconds.” Exile is using a ‘buy-to-own’ business model rather than subscription for Finalist: it will cost £99 all-in, with an introductory £10 discount for the rest of this month.
AI-powered mixing is an increasingly busy space, with Landr, RoEx and even super-producer Spike Stent’s Spike AI plug-in. Finalist is an interestingly-different spin on the mixing task.
