Brigitte Bardot, the iconic French actress, has been urgently admitted to a hospital in Toulon, France, due to a ‘serious illness’.
The 91 year old star, who resides in St Tropez, has reportedly been in the hospital for three weeks, as per local news outlets. The actress is said to be recuperating from surgery.
Her condition is being closely monitored by doctors. Despite her ‘serious illness’, her health status is not considered alarming. It’s anticipated that the star will be discharged and return home in the forthcoming days under careful supervision.
The celebrated actress had a long and illustrious career in the limelight. However, in recent years, Brigitte has largely retreated from public life and is seldom seen out and about, reports the Mirror.
This isn’t the first time Brigitte has faced health challenges. In July 2023, she experienced severe breathing difficulties, which led to emergency services rushing to her Saint-Tropez residence.
Her husband, Bernard d’Ormale, confirmed the incident at the time, noting that there was initial confusion as the emergency services were given an incorrect address, according to the Mirror.
In a conversation with Var-matin, he stated: “It was around 9 a.m. when Brigitte had trouble breathing. [Her breathing] was stronger than usual but she did not lose consciousness. Let’s call it a moment of respiratory distraction.”
Paramedics delivered oxygen assistance to Brigitte and stayed at the couple’s residence for an extended period to observe her health status. Bernard explained: “Like all people of a certain age, she can no longer bear the heat. It happens at 88 years old. She must not make useless efforts.”
