Selena Gomez made a special trip to Washington, D.C. this week, where the Rare Beauty founder participated in Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit. Her new husband, Benny Blanco, missed her greatly while she was gone and put together a special surprise for her.
Gomez posted the gift on her Instagram Story: a basket full of her favorite snacks, including M&M minis, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, Fritos Scoops, and Airhead Xtremes Bites. Blanco included a note that read: “I know I’m being dramatic but a day without you feels like an eternity! I wanted it to feel like home when you returned. I love you.”
This is not Blanco’s first grand gesture. He also planned a surprise prom for Gomez (since she never got to experience one growing up) and filled their backyard with candles after her night at the 2025 Emmys.
At the beginning of the year, Blanco spoke to Interview about his good fortune finding Gomez—and why he goes out of his way to make her days special.
“I remember before I was with her, I was like, ‘You know what? I’m going to stop everything I’m doing and just focus all my energy on being a grownup and being with the right person,’” he said. “Now I worship the ground she walks on and I feel like she’s the same way to me. There’s no ego between us. She’s praying for me to win and I’m praying for her to win. And I wake up in the morning—I know she does the same thing—and I’m like, ‘How can I make her life better?’ Holding her isn’t close enough. I want to be inside of her whole body. I just feel a thing for her that I can’t even explain.”
Life with Blanco is so good, it literally scares the singer. During the summit, Gomez spoke about the fear she felt after marrying Blanco last month.
“This is how I work personally, but something great happens in my life, I expect something bad to happen,” she prefaced. “So instead of being present and saying, ‘Okay, wow, we’ve done a great thing,’ which I do, but I’m always thinking, ‘Okay, but this could all go away tomorrow, so how can I make sure that doesn’t happen?’ Then I can just get wrapped up in that instead of enjoying things. I would say that’s my biggest conflict sometimes when wonderful things happen. I got married and then I was sobbing because I was like, ‘I’m gonna die the next day.’ I just think that’s a little life thing.”
