Kevin Federline Claims Britney Spears Wished Sons Were ‘Dead’

Kevin Federline will never forget one phone call Britney Spears allegedly had with their son Sean Preston within the past two years.

“During their conversation, she started her usual routine, blaming me, her father and the rest of her family for her problems,” Federline, 47, wrote in his upcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew. “Preston, to his credit, confronted her. He called out her lies and refused to accept her narrative. Her response was chilling: She told him she wished he, his brother and me were all dead.”

When Preston, 20, recounted the conversation, Federline said he was left feeling “devastated.”

“How could a mother say that to her son? Preston, having dealt with her vitriol for years, took it better than I did,” Federline wrote. “He understood her anger and instability, but it didn’t make it any less painful. Trauma like that left scars, ones I fear they’ll carry for the rest of their lives.”

Before Federline’s book is released on Tuesday, October 21, Spears’ rep spoke out about the project.

“With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her, and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin,” Spears’ rep said in a statement to Us on Tuesday, October 14. “All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism.”

Spears’ rep added that the pop star “detailed her journey in her memoir,” The Woman in Me, which was published in 2023.

Spears, 43, herself also spoke out online, telling her fans that “relationships with teenage boys [are] complex.”

“The constant gaslighting from [my] ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting. I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys,” she wrote via X on Wednesday, October 15. “I have felt demoralized by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life.”

Spears claimed she has only seen one of her sons for 45 minutes in the past five years. The other son allegedly had four visits with the singer in that time.

“Trust me, those white lies in that book, they are going straight to the bank and I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here,” Spears continued. “I will always love them and if you really know me, you won’t pay attention to the tabloids of my mental health and drinking. I am actually a pretty intelligent woman who has been trying to live a sacred and private life the past 5 years. I speak on this because I have had enough and any real woman would do the same.”

In his book, Federline wrote that he had “to carefully guide the boys out of the mindset Britney tried to instill in them that everyone else was to blame for her problems.”

“By the time they were teenagers, they had started to believe her narrative,” Federline wrote. “It took countless conversations and a lot of patience to help them see the bigger picture. I never spoke badly about her; I simply presented the facts.”

In an exclusive interview with Us, Federline denied Spears’ claims that his book is strictly a money grab.
