The Duffer Brothers have clarified that the Stranger Things expansion will not follow a massive, interconnected universe model like Star Wars. “It’s so different than something like Star Wars,” Matt Duffer told Variety, noting that, unlike Star Wars, which has expanded Diego Luna’s Andor across multiple projects, the Stranger Things spinoff will feature all-new characters and storylines.
They explained that though the spinoff will be part of the show’s “brand” and “style of storytelling,” it will not expand into an overly complex mythology. Instead, it will focus on fresh, standalone storylines. Ross Duffer explained,
