Now, speculations are rife that Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater are trying to prevent their personal issues from overshadowing their individual upcoming projects.

The “Dangerous Woman” singer often had his company at award shows and red carpet events, and would periodically share photos of him on her Instagram account.

In fact, they had even considered tying the knot, as a source shared that marriage was in their plans and that it could come as early as this year.

However, those plans have reportedly been squashed as they’ve not been seen together since April, when the SpongeBob SquarePants actor joined her at a preview of “Little Shop of Horrors,” in support of her “Victorious” co-star Liz Gillies. That was also the last time Slater featured on her Instagram grid.

“At one time, they discussed marriage, but that is no longer on the table. They fell head over heels in love when they first hooked up. But those days are over,” a source explained.

The wedge between them may have grown as Slater was absent at the MTV VMAs last month, where Grande went home with three awards.

“At least until after ‘Wicked: For Good’ opens. After that, it’s doubtful they’ll stay together. The relationship is unhealthy for both,” the source added.

“He loves her, but he’s drowning in the circus of her life,” another insider shared. “He’s used to a controlled Broadway stage, not sold-out arenas screaming for every move.”

The insider added, “Even when he’s home, he’s mentally halfway through the tour or rehearsals. It’s exhausting just watching him try to keep up.”
