Country legend George Strait just revealed the mystery behind his recent vintage-poster tease — and it’s a show for the ages.
On Friday, the “King of Country” confirmed he’ll headline a “one-night only” concert at Clemson University’s Death Valley on Saturday, May 2, 2026. The event poster reads George Strait at Death Valley — In the Round — One Night Only, with special guests Cody Johnson and Wyatt Flores joining the bill.
In his Instagram announcement, Strait wrote, “The last time Death Valley hosted a concert was 1999 — and it was George Strait. In 2026, the King returns. Sign up now for early access at georgestrait.com/shows.”

In the comments, Flores wrote, “Honored to be a part of it!”
Fans can register for early access starting now, with the presale set for Monday, October 27, at 10 a.m. ET and public on-sale Friday, October 31 at 10 a.m. ET.
A Return Nearly Three Decades in the Making
Strait last performed at Clemson’s storied stadium 27 years ago as part of his record-breaking George Strait Country Music Festival series, a late-’90s juggernaut that paired him with Tim McGraw, the Dixie Chicks, Kenny Chesney, Mark Wills, Asleep at the Wheel and Jo Dee Messina.. That tour also birthed “StraitLand,” an immersive fair-style fan experience that helped cement Strait’s status as both hitmaker and live-event pioneer.
His recent Instagram teaser — featuring the original George Strait Chevy Truck Music Festival poster — had already sent fans into overdrive, convinced that “Strait Fest 2026” was on the horizon. While this new reveal isn’t a full festival (yet), the “one night only” return to Death Valley is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated live country events of 2026. Hopefully, this is just the beginning of his string of shows in 2026.
