When it comes to Kim Kardashian’s style, the star has proven somewhat of a vintage connoisseur. Over the years, she has grown a collection full of ’90s archives and rare Hermès Birkins alike, stepping out in museum-worthy pieces that would have any fashion historian drooling. From Thierry Mugler’s iconic sculptural minidress (1996) to Carmen Electra’s 1998 MTV Awards gown by Stephen Sprouse, she’s worn it all.
Most notable, perhaps, was her controversial 2022 Met Gala look, for which she borrowed Marilyn Monroe’s famous “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” gown—a 1962 dress designed by Bob Mackie under Jean Louis and later sold to Ripley’s Believe It or Not! for nearly $5 million in 2016. While doing press for her forthcoming film, Ryan Murphy’s legal drama All’s Fair, Kardashian continued her reign as queen of the archives, stepping back into the ’90s once more. For the occasion, she pulled a look from one of the industry’s most renowned collections—John Galliano’s Autumn/Winter 1995. Considered the designer’s final show as a newcomer, it was presented in a Paris warehouse mere months before he was named Creative Director of Givenchy. In the look Kardashian wore, a long silk skirt was paired with a statement blazer, adorned with poodle-style cuffs on each sleeve and matching ruffled embellishments climbing up the shoulder and around the neck like a scarf.
Styled by Soki Mak, Kardashian paired the runway look with a glossy updo by Igor Rosales-Jackson, thick brows, and extra long lashes.
