The Funny Side of Salem on DAYS

Young and the Restless Messiest Move of the Week Kyle follows Claire to LA

Salem is riddled with drama and chaos. However, Days of our Lives has been reminding fans lately that there’s a humorous side to the soap, too.

Key Takeaways

  • Funny moments aren’t always in your face.

  • Several DAYS characters bring the humor to Salem.

  • The Peacock soap laughs are needed.

Salem Shows Off Its Funny Bone

Let’s be honest, we can all use a dose of laughter sprinkled into our soaps. DAYS has been hitting it out of the park doing just that lately.

It’s time to highlight the humor in Salem, as the soap has been making us laugh out loud over the past few weeks.

Leo (Greg Rikaart) trying to free Gwen (Emily O’Brien) when she was trapped in the clinic during the blackout was beyond funny. Not only how he finally rescued her, but their banter throughout the rescue was so entertaining.

The simple fact is that Leo and Gwen are both great comedic talents, whether they are in scenes together or with other people. Leo proved that again with his witty exchange with EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) over the blackout, Dimitri (Peter Porte), and EJ’s shooting.

EJ gets his props, too, because his digs at Leo were off the charts. These two men enjoyed trading barbs and trying to one-up each other, all while staying calm, cool, and collected. They were hilarious.

It’s the subtle humor like that between Leo and EJ that makes us laugh. Even newly returned Jeremy (Michael Roark) has shown us his funny side.

Jeremy dissing “affable Uncle Jack” (Matthew Ashford) and “Saint Jennifer” (Melissa Reeves) while talking to Chad (Billy Flynn) was not what we expected from a Horton. The moment was very entertaining, especially because Jeremy said it with such ease and calmness, making it even funnier.

DAYS also recently gave fans a lighter side of Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans), something that isn’t always shown because they tend to be in the thick of the drama. The fun married banter, though, is a great break from that and reminds us why they are such gems.

Those are just some recent specific moments. However, we can’t talk about the funnier side of Salme without mentioning Bonnie (Judi Evans) or Susan (Stacy Haiduk). Anytime those two women are around, fans are sure to have a giggle or two.
