While the holiday season is still a few months away, it’s believed that the Royal Family is already gearing up for the big day. As per tradition, the royals congregate at Sandringham in Norfolk to celebrate Christmas together, and this year will be no different.
Even though fall has just kicked off, it’s thought that invitations to Sandringham for Christmas Day have already been dispatched by the Firm to extended family members. The grand event will be hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla, who also spearhead the annual Christmas Day stroll to the nearby St. Mary Magdalene church for a festive service.
Following the service, they host an elaborate Christmas lunch, succeeded by games and quality family time, mirroring celebrations happening across the country. It comes amid news that King Charles is reportedly set to feature in an Amazon Prime documentary on a topic close to his heart.
While most members of the Royal Family are likely eagerly anticipating the annual festivities, not all royals will be partaking in the celebration. This year, four royals are reportedly not on the guest list.
Though not confirmed, it’s speculated that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – who stepped back from Royal duties in 2020 – won’t be invited to the Christmas Day gathering, reports the Express.
This probably won’t come as a shock to the couple, who allegedly haven’t received an invite to the family event since their departure from the UK five years ago.
It’s thought that the last time they celebrated December 25 with the Royal Family was in 2018 – the Christmas before their son, Prince Archie, was born.
Harry and Meghan, along with their two kids, are reportedly not the only Royal relatives left off the guest list for Sandringham. It’s speculated that Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson have also been excluded.
While the absence of an invitation might disappoint Andrew and Sarah, both 65, it may not come as a shock. The duo were absent from Sandringham on December 25 last year, just weeks before the 2024 holiday season, when it was revealed that Andrew had befriended a suspected Chinese spy.
The royals currently on the Sandringham Christmas Day invite list have not been officially confirmed.
